Upcoming Tele-Playshops

September

Dialogue With The Mysteries:
SoulCollage As a Journey of Mythic Discovery

Presented by Robin Cooper-Stone, MFA,
SoulCollage-Facilitator-To-Be in Virginia

Seena Frost has said that the Council suit and Companion suit make up "the larger story." What is this larger story, and what does it mean for our lives? In this tele-class, we will be discussing our SoulCollage cards as the revelation of the "hero's journey" we have undertaken and what the stages of this journey are. We will also consider the potential value of reading certain myths to enrich our SoulCollage work and our participation in "the larger story."

We will also discuss what Seena Frost calls "the local story," the Committee and Community suits, relative to our own personal mythologies. To paraphrase William Blake, "We must more consciously create our own myths or be enslaved to the myths of another." Towards this end, we will be answering questions with the potential to open new vistas in our SoulCollage work.

Robin Cooper-Stone, M.F.A., taught The Heroic Quest in freshman composition courses at theUniversity ofAlabama. A few years ago, she took a workshop with Dr. James Hollis, author of Tracking the Gods: The Place of Myth in Modern Life. She is one year into her personal SoulCollage journey and will attend the SoulCollage facilitator training in Maryland this October. She lives in Virginia with her husband and two children.

Soul Nourishment

Resources to support your inner work
as you dive deeper into your beautiful soul

Books:

The Whole World Over, by Julia Glass. I've just finished reading this magnificent novel and feel like I've found another "favorite author." I know the book belongs in this category if I feel a sadness, a loss, when the last page arrives in my hands. There are many stories woven into one beautiful tapestry of human love and longing here. If you love novels that go deep into peoples' lives, you'll love this one. I also thrilled to the way Glass weaves in poetry and children's stories, as well as the fact that animals play a hugely important role in the threads of just about everyone's lives. Not just dogs and cats, but horses and other animals as well.

how not to be afraid of your own life
, by Susan Piver. Subtitle: Opening Your Heart to Confidence, Intimacy, and Joy. I found this book easy to read and very helpful in my SoulCollage practice, particularly in the realm of fearful inner voices and the shadow. The author is a strong believer in meditation, as am I. She talks about the inner stillness that results from meditation as a healing grace. If you're ready to delve deeper into the feeling of your own fears and discover what they mean and how these fears can help you (yes, really)... then pick up this book, and let the journey begin.

Before You Leap, by Kermit the Frog. A Frog's Eye View of Life's Greatest Lessons. At long last, the world's most famous and beloved frog shares his story - and the lessons of his life - with all the fans who have loved and laughter with him over the years. After reflecting on his life, Kermit shares what he's learned to help you live a better life. whether you're trying to make your dreams come true, looking for love, graduating from school, starting a new job, retiring, or just wanting some sage (green) advice, Kermit has insights (and admonitions) you won't find anywhere else. Whatever your goals in life, the frog is here for you with ideas, inspiration, and advice for taking on the real world - warts and all.

The Book of Change, by Cyndi Haynes. Instead of the usual self-help manual that provides theory and endless how-tos, this delightful book simply offers small bits of wisdom from the famous - and not so famous - on making change happen in your life. Some humorous, some introspective, these quotes provide a quick, uplifting, and inspiring take on making change happen - with a good, healthy attitude firmly in hand. In addition to inspiring quotes, this little book is chock-full of informative facts, advice, lists, and writing prompts to jump-start you on your way to positive change. This is a handbook for taking the small steps that can truly lead to real, lasting change in your life.

Websites:

Soulebrate- Wonderful site for anyone with soul-full yearnings. Absolutely beautiful greetings cards (very inspiring), soulcializing, and more.

The Soul Journey- Spiritual growth and healing on your personal journey.

Healing Baskets- Know someone who is recovering from surgery or just had a baby? Or celebrating something special? Or grieving? You can send a personal basket of goodies of your own choosing at this site. It's very cool... YOU choose which items out of hundreds go into the basket you give and they send it for you, no matter where you live.

Online Interactive Labyrinth- From Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. Experience the meditative stillness of walking a labyrinth without actually walking one!

All Books For Less- Amazing website for any book lover. They have zillions of books (I'm not kidding!) on any topic you can think of, all at greatly reduced prices. It's not like Amazon or Half.com where you are buying from individual sellers. This is a reputable dealer and most of the books are available in quantity, which is great for book clubs as well as gift giving. Search for your favorite author or topic and see how much savings you can gather this fall!

Music:

Songs of the Spirit I, by Karen Drucker. If you've never heard this songwriter/artist, hop right on over to this link and listen to clips of some of her spirit-filled and soul-full songs. I love her music, and think you will too. Some of the tracks on this album include: Are You Ready to Receive, The Healing Song, I Give Myself Permission, Woman's Spirit.
