Upcoming Tele-Playshops

Dialogue With The Mysteries:
SoulCollage As a Journey of Mythic Discovery

Presented by Robin Cooper-Stone, MFA,
SoulCollage-Facilitator-To-Be in Virginia

Seena Frost has said that the Council suit and Companion suit make up "the larger story."  What is this larger story, and what does it mean for our lives?  In this tele-class, we will be discussing our SoulCollage cards as the revelation of the "hero's journey" we have undertaken and what the stages of this journey are.  We will also consider the potential value of reading certain myths to enrich our SoulCollage work and our participation in "the larger story."

We will also discuss what Seena Frost calls "the local story," the Committee and Community suits, relative to our own personal mythologies.  To paraphrase William Blake, "We must more consciously create our own myths or be enslaved to the myths of another."  Towards this end, we will be answering questions with the potential to open new vistas in our SoulCollage work.

Robin Cooper-Stone, M.F.A., taught The Heroic Quest in freshman composition courses at theUniversity ofAlabama.  A few years ago, she took a workshop with Dr. James Hollis, author of Tracking the Gods:  The Place of Myth in Modern Life.  She is one year into her personal SoulCollage journey and will attend the SoulCollage facilitator training in Maryland this October.  She lives in Virginia with her husband and two children.

SoulCollage Challenge

Inspiring You To Look At
SoulCollage® In New Ways

SoulCollage by the Week

Give yourself a whole week of SoulCollage this month. Rip out magazine images two days in a row. Trim images the next day.  Then spread out all the images you've collected and sort them into piles. Spend two days laying out a couple of SoulCollage cards. Finally, on the last day of the week, glue your cards down.  This can be done in the confines of even the busiest week... so have fun!

NOTE: There are more SoulCollage Challenges on the KaleidoSoul Blog, Inner Surprises.  Simply click on "SoulCollage Challenges" in the upper right side of the screen, in the lavender column.

Soul Nourishment

Resources to support your inner work
as you dive deeper into your beautiful soul

Books:

The New Creative Artist: A Guide to Developing Your Creative Spirit, by Nita Leland.  Oh, this book is delightful!  First of all, it's big and has a hard cover but is spiral bound so you can lay it flat on your table.  Second, it's packed with ideas, quotations, activities and projects that will be an excellent companion on your creative journey.  This is an excellent investment for anyone interested in creativity, art, and self-expression.

Life's A Beach, by Claire Cook.  Funny, uplifting, delightful new novel by the author of the romantic comedy film Must Love Dogs.  Focuses on the story of Ginger, in her 40's and still trying to figure out what she wants to be when she grows up. I loved this book because it made me laugh right out loud many, many times. And also because Ginger is playing around with the idea of being an artist.  Oh and one more thing... she loves Eva Cassidy as much as I do.

Lit From Within, by Victoria Moran.  Excellent resource for any woman longing to connect with her inner beauty.  $5.99 at All Books For Less.

A Good Book is the Best of Friends, by Robin Doak and Natalie Goldberg.  If you love to read, this little book functions a little bit like a journal, giving you space to record insights and learnings that you receive from each book that you read.  $4.99 at All Books for Less.

Music:

All the Way to Heaven, by Jan Phillips.  My dear friend, Karen Mann, told me about this CD and I know that you will love it too.  It's full of songs about the creative process, and is soothing and uplifting at the same time.  I've been playing it in the background while doing tedious computer work and it's amazing how just staying in touch with the creative side of myself helps me get through those chores more quickly.  I don't think there's another CD like this on the whole planet, and I highly recommend it to you.  It doesn't seem to be available at Amazon, so I am sending you to CDBaby for this one.

Movies:

Dragonfly, featuring Kevin Costner and Kathy Bates.  This is a simple story of a man who deeply loved his wife, and then followed his heart after her death.  All of the press for this movie made it out to be a psychological horror sort of film, but I've seen it twice now and for me, it's more of a love story.  AND... a story of the mystical way in which all of us are connected through dreams, thoughts, premonitions, and more importantly...Love.   The Kevin Costner character is very open to these signs and premonitions, and he follows them against everyone else's more practical view of things.

Websites:

Pinwheels for Peace- Here's a wonderful project that all SoulCollagers can participate in.  Create an intentional SoulCollage® Card dedicated to Peace. The format will be slightly different than usual in that the card must be square in order for it to be converted into a pinwheel. You could collage directly onto the paper you will use for the pinwheel or color copy your image onto a separate sheet of paper and cut it into a square.  On the back of the card you can write the "I am the one who..." wisdom that your card has to offer about peace. For directions on how to make a pinwheel and more info about this international project "Pinwheels for Peace," click on the link at the beginning of this paragraph. (Submitted by Kindred Spirit Laura in  New Hampshire.)

Comfort Queen- Pop on over to the colorful, creative site of best-selling author Jennifer Louden (that's my SoulCollage card to honor her on the right).  You will indeed be comforted by the wide array of tools and resources for anyone interested in self-care of the most inwardly comforting kind!  I highly recommend her newest book, The Life Organizer: A Woman's Guide to a Mindful Year.

Powerful You- Wonderful women's network online.  Excellent resource for any woman longing to reach out to others.  Founded on the belief that women  are powerful creators, passionate and compassionate leaders, and the heart and backbone of our world's businesses, homes and communities.  (Submitted by Kindred Spirit Elaine in Massachusetts).

The Art of Authenticity,  excellent short article by Robin Rice. Beautifully written and quite inspirational.
