The Book ofAnswers, by Carol Bolt. Ask a question and open this book to any page. Voila! An answer just for you. Insightful and fun. Recommended by Kindred Spirit Barb in Minnesota.
The Friday Night Knitting Club,by Kate Jacobs. A rich, many-layerednovel, and not just about knitting as the title might imply. The author weaves the stories of severalwomen (and one 12 year old girl) whose paths cross in a trendy knittingboutique inManhattan. I will be recommending this book as one toread for back-up and inspiration when it comes to the SoulCollage Communitysuit. If ever there was a novel thatcreated an environment for exploring our self-created communities, it's thisone. Warm, real, and full of compassion, it is interspersed throughout withsome wise and thoughtful spiritual knitting metaphors.
Sacred Circles: AGuide to creating Your Own Women's Spirituality Group, by Robin DeenCarnes and Sally Craig. This wonderful book shows us how we can use agroup to explore our relationship to the sacred, and to honor the divine ineveryday life. Divided into sections:Women's Spirituality Today, Examples of Different Kinds of Women's Circles,Circle Basics, Creating the Circle, First Meetings, The Power of Storytelling,Reclaiming Ritual, Juicy Themes for Drawing Closer, Home Remedies to Keep YourGroup Healthy, and A Sacred Scenario.
Recovery of Your Inner Child, by Lucia Capacchione. If you're curious at all about your own inner child, this book is a great place to start.
Bliss: 33 Simples Ways to Awaken Your Spiritual Self, by Michael Goddart. These 33 simple yet profound exercises reveal and develop yourspiritual core. Try them. You will experience bliss - here, now. It only takes two minutes a day. I see definite inspiration for SoulCollage cards here too!
Movies:
Ordinary People- featuring Donald Sutherland, Mary Tyler Moore, Timothy Hutton, Judd Hirsch. 1980. Excellent film about the nuances of surviving a tragedy. Family relationships are explored beautifully, as well as relationships with self.
Music:
Women of Africa,fromPutumayo. Soulful, inspirational music by many ofAfrica'sgreat female artists.
Websites:
My Inner World- I have recommended this site before, but cannot recommend it highly enough. This is a website that I wish I had created! You can take journeys, make a wish in the wishing well, create your own meditation room, visit the castle, collect tokens, plant a seed, read the message boards, receive inspirational messages and much more. If you have a few minutes and feel like playing, this is the site for you.
Art of James McPartlin- Beautiful art, lots of images of people showing various emotions. Click on "galleries" on the left side of the screen to access more of James' work. Also, the "links" button will lead you to many more sites of cool art and images.
AllBooks For Less- Amazing website for any book lover. They have zillionsof books (I'm not kidding!) on any topic you can think of, all at greatlyreduced prices. It's not like Amazon or Half.com where you are buyingfrom individual sellers. This is a reputable dealer and most of the booksare available in quantity, which is great for book clubs as well as giftgiving. Search for your favorite author or topic and let yourself be surprised!
Inner Peace for Busy People- Wisdom Flash with Joan Borysenko. Take a few minutes out of a hectic day to pause and refresh.
