Quotation of the Week Soul Friends The Voice of a Different Kindred Spirit Each Week ![]() Jazz Jaeschke Austin, Texas Hi. My name is Jazz, and I'm a recovering left-brain high-tech career captive. I have been outside that corral since 2002 and day by day more free of its ingrained mindset. In my 30's I learned to visualize concepts; in my 40's I dabbled in sketching my visualizations; in my 50's I began turning visualizations into poetry; and in my 60's I discovered SoulCollage® - whoosh! - everything comes together. Austin is blessed to have Doris Adams spreading the SoulCollage® message. Which turns out to be quite contagious! A friend showed me some of her cards in 2007, and I joined her group, led by Doris. We meet twice a month. I also make many, many cards on my own. My deck is approaching 300 cards. SoulCollage® has become an extension of journaling for me - my way to digest and integrate what's happening in my life and within my Self. My cards keep surprising me with their revelations. I recommend SoulCollage as an adjunct to journaling, or as a nonverbal entry for anyone reluctant to strike words onto the page. Retirement led to my partner Gary, who has stretched me beyond my comfort zone again and again, taking the in-control, sedentary technical manager into desert canyons [climbing out of control!] and leading me toward self-confidence that requires no role authority postures. It's been a rugged ride. My inner acceptance of the changes accelerated when SoulCollage® entered the scene. "I am one who" keeps expanding. Older cards are still "me" but I am intrigued by the emergence of cards lately that would have been meaningless to me a few years ago. My partner takes me to the edge, and SoulCollage® steadies me while I take it all in. I trust that the teacher arrives when the student is ready, and I guess I needed to be cut free of "corporate culture" to become ready. My hope is that others break through their control barriers long before they turn 60! I witness this in our local SoulCollage® group, and I applaud KaleidoSoul's fostering of creative exploration. In group, we are strictly cutting and gluing. I sense an inner shift the moment I begin unfolding the materials and stirring among images. It's magic. At home, I do that at times and also create a good many cards digitally. A digital card takes a bit longer, and I find myself deeply involved with the imagery, often discovering detail I'd never have noticed if not for the marvel of resizing and cloning. Cut-&-glue or digital, I almost always begin with images that call to me, and consistently get an "Oh!" when the card comes together and I recognize the message behind the imagery. I love this process. My deck is not "suited" as many of the cards cross suits. My readings are usually a 3-card spread, each responding individually to a query and contributing to an integrated collective wisdom message. I chose two cards to share here. "Dancers" is a cut-and-glue combination; "Circles" is a digital blend of photos taken on a local children's hospital playscape. DancersI am one who yearns still for the little-girl fantasy of being a dancer - fluid movements, one with the music, entrancing others with my body rhythms. I am one who harbors little-girl resentment that Daddy would not allow me on stage in "suggestive attire" required by the only dance teacher in town. I am a senior dancing around unresolved childhood issues. ![]() Circles I am one who gives thanks for the chance to dangle my feet playfully above Great Mystery while basking in Spirit Light, rounding my perspectives to meld with the many circles that support me. The album JazzEssence includes more samples of my cards.

Our Next Tele-Class Eye of the Hawk SoulCollage® Reading, with Mili Ballard SoulCollage® Facilitator and Facilitator Trainer in North Carolina ![]() Mili will share a brief description of the transpersonal map of the psyche that includes the biographical, perinatal, and transpersonal levels of consciousness. Founded on the work of Stanislav Grof, transpersonal psychology purports that for sustainable healing to occur, all three levels of the psyche must be touched within the transformative process. Mili will guide us through an "Eye of the Hawk" reading that incorporates these concepts to potentially expand our awareness, consciousness, and personal healing/growth via our own SoulCollage® decks. Mili Ballard has been a SoulCollage® facilitator since May 2005 and a SoulCollage® facilitator trainer since February 2007. Mili is a training consultant within business and industry and also focuses on assisting individuals involved in their own processes of personal transformation. Mili and her life partner Johnny Dillard, also a trained SoulCollage® facilitator, co-lead "Just" Blank Cards, their private practice focusing on using the communicative power of images to enhance relationships with self and others.
