Soul Friends The Voice of a Different Kindred Spirit Each Week  Kate Greenway Minneapolis, Minnesota I first found SoulCollage®, like many of you, when I was looking for creative ways to express myself. I had tried many different mediums from oil pastels to watercolors over the years (I even took a collage class) but I never found the thing that clicked for me. In the winter of 2005 I was looking at a couple of books on creative self-expression at Amazon, and they recommended Seena's book, SoulCollage®. I read the brief description and added it to my order. It arrived and from the first page I was hooked. I thought, "This is what I have been looking for." What is especially interesting is in my professional life I am a Tarot card reader and it has always been in the back of my mind how great it would be to have a personal deck of my own creation. I made a couple of cards on my own and then invited in a small group of women to do a group. Still though, I hadn't really dropped into who these images were inside of me. That happened later that spring while attending a five day retreat at Kripalu with Seena Frost. Day three found me feeling increasingly unsettled, a bit lonely and wondering why I had decided to do this. The card making was ok, but no big opening. That afternoon a card emerged: two rough gunslinger-type young men glaring out from a cold landscape. Seena came by and asked who this might be within me. I blurted out, "I would just as soon shoot you as look at you!" She gave me a very startled look and moved on. I felt stunned by what had just come out of me. Later that afternoon sitting alone on my bed holding that card, I just let the image speak. It clearly said it was a part of me that protected my boundaries, especially when I was feeling frightened or uncertain. I felt this unspeakable tenderness and began to cry. At that moment I could allow my feelings of fear and loneliness along with the defensiveness to all just settle. The door opened and I have never again questioned the power of this process. From that retreat I realized two things: First, I wanted to keep sharing SoulCollage® with others. Second, I got much deeper into my own process when I did this work in a group. I took the facilitator training in February 2008 and have led several groups since. I am continually amazed by the beautiful and diverse cards women make in these groups and the powerful voices that emerge in the "I Am The One Who..." exercise. From such simple instructions - listen, cut, arrange and paste - there are doors opening we can scarcely imagine from our logical, rational brains. Honestly, I think Seena is right when she talks about SoulCollage® having the potential to heal the world. Imagine that. Please visit me online at Kate Greenway Tarot. I am not overly trusting and will question very carefully all who approach. I feel my job is important even if sometimes lonely. I remind you it is alright to take care in certain situations. Our Next Tele-Class SoulCollage® as Prayer, with Catherine Anderson SoulCollage® Facilitator in North Carolina.  In this tele-class, Catherine will guide you through simple exercises
that will enable you to hear and record the prayers you have already captured in visual form in some of your SoulCollage® cards. Using SoulCollage® cards you have already made, you will create prayers that allow you to become more aware of the blessings in your life as well as prayers asking for help from your Higher Power.
