Highlights of this issue:
Quotation of the Week
Inner Journeys with Anne Marie Bennett Integrating the Practice of SoulCollage® Into Our Daily Lives Rooted and Grounded Sometimes a quotation takes on a different shade of meaning when I learn a little bit more about who actually said it. So here's what I learned about Bella Lewitzky: she was a world-famous dancer and choreographer. She founded the Dance Theatre of Los Angeles as well as the Lewitzky Dance Company.
Ahhhh... now it makes even more sense to me. Even if you're not a professional dancer (and let me say right now that I am not!), you can probably remember a time when you did a little dancing yourself. Maybe not perfect ballerina plies, or totally syncopated jazz moves, but still.... don't you sometimes love to just turn on the music and MOVE to the beat? And in order to move your body truly freely to music, you need to have a grounding point of some sort. Usually it's a sense of your feet touching the earth, or of your Root Chakra at the base of your spine. And the same is true in our daily lives. Unless we are grounded/rooted in something bigger, something more solid and stable than we are, it's really difficult to move freely through our hours and days and weeks. and lives.
May each day this week
ground you in community, faith and love... May you be given grace to move more freely through your life. SoulCollage® ExpressionsIdeas and Challenges to Spice Up Your SoulCollage® Practice Challenge of the Week 1. Pay attention over the next few days to your own internal and external sense of groundedness. Notice what makes you feel connected to the earth, the ground, the human family... and notice what makes you feel disconnected. 2. Also become more aware of what makes you feel internally grounded/rooted to your own sense of self. It's kind of like a feeling of being anchored in place. What makes you feel that way? Some things that make me feel this way are: meditating, listening to music, yoga, writing, and creating art. Remember, these are just examples. Your list might look very different! 3. Make a list in your journal or art journal of everyone and everything that gives you a sense of being rooted in your most authentic self. 4. Spend some time dancing to your favorite music! 5. Notice how becoming conscious of your own groundedness affects your ability to move in the physical world, and in your internal world. Is anything shifting for you because you are consciously becoming more grounded? 6. Create a SoulCollage® card for this part of you who is rooted and grounded, or to honor someone in your life who makes you feel this way.
