Quotation of the Week

 Inspirational words to ponder.....

Finish every day and be done with it.  You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities no doubt have crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely
and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense.
This day is all that is good and fair.
It is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on yesterdays.
---Ralph Waldo Emerson

2008 Soul Colors Desk Calendars

"Wow!  It's like a little bit of therapy that fits in the palm of your hand," said one enthusiastic buyer when she picked up one of these nifty little calendars, created specifically for our KaleidoSoul readers.

Each month features a full-color, vibrant mixed media collage by Anne Marie Bennett, along with a quotation carefully chosen to lift your spirits and remind you of your own soul's true colors.  The calendar is spiral bound this year, so it's easier to manage, and is printed on heavy, glossy cardstock, similar to (and the same size as) postcards.

On the back of each page are several Journaling Prompts as well as a few SoulCollage Suggestions, specially designed to help you bring the wisdom of the month's quotation into your daily life.

They make great gifts for people who don't practice SoulCollage too.  Anyone who loves color and quotations and inner journeys will love this calendar.

For more information, and to read what previous Soul Colors buyers have said about their calendars, please visit this Members Only Page

Note: These calendars are only $12 for Kindred Spirit Members, or $10 each if you buy more than one.  Non-members are paying $15, so you save 20% as a Member.

Tele-Classes

Taking the Creative Journey:
Moving SoulCollage Into
the 3rd Dimension

presented by special guest Barb Kobe,
Healing Artist, Dollmaker & Creativity Coach
and
SoulCollage Facilitator Anne Marie Bennett

(Note: You can click on the game board image above to enlarge it.)

The Creative Journey is an adventure in self-discovery and creative problem solving.  This is a process that Barb created after studying The Hero's Journey and The Heroine's Journey for several years.  She created a visual diary of the journey (in the form of a collaged game board) along with 3-dimensional game pieces (similar to intentions of the SoulCollage cards) that travel around the board.

This process is a way of identifying your journey, of seeing the ongoing thread, theme or pattern to your own life's trek. It permits you to see the linkage between events and people in a way that provides meaning about self and others.  This contributes to personal well-being and a greater sense of direction and conscious participation in life. As you design the game board and game pieces you clarify moments from the past, learn to live with the present, and begin to outline the future.  Sharing the story of it with others can help you understand the context of your life journey.

This tele-class will provide you with an overview of the process. It will explain how it can work side by side with the concept of SoulCollage.  Barb will share pictures of others' game boards and characters, along with stories and examples.

There's more information about The Creative Journey experience on Barb Kobe's website.

Date: Monday January 7, 2008
Time:  8 p.m. East Coast Time

The Creative Journey will also be offered as a 3 month creative experience through KaleidoSoul from January 21-April 21 (more details coming soon, so stay tuned!).  If you think you might be interested, please be sure to join us for this very special tele-playshop.

SoulCollage Challenge

Inspiring You To Look At
SoulCollage® In New Ways

A
rtist's Affirmation

Call yourself an artist.  Say out loud to yourself and to someone else: "I am an artist." Notice what Committee inner voices have something to say about this.  Are there any Council archetypes that can help you with this affirmation?  You might try writing the affirmation out several times in your journal or art journal. You might even want to make a SoulCollage card that honors your inner artist.  Even if your art is not published or sold or hung in galleries, you are still an artist!

NOTE: There are more SoulCollage Challenges on the KaleidoSoul Blog, Inner Surprises.  Simply click on "SoulCollage Challenges" in the upper right side of the screen, in the lavender column.

Soul Nourishment

Resources to support your inner work
as you dive deeper into your beautiful soul

Books:

Why Good Things Happen to Good People, by Stephen Post, PhD, and Jill Neimark.  Subtitle: The Exciting New Research That Proves The Link Between Doing Good and Living a Longer, Healthier, Happier Life.  Dr. Post has been making headlines by funding studies at the nation's top universities to prove once and for all the life-enhancing benefits of caring, kindness, and compassion.  Fascinating ideas and truths.  Your Inner Committee Member, Generosity, will love this book.

the not so big life: making room for what really matters
, by Sarah Susanka.  Very readable, valuable book that lives up to its title and subtitle.  Especially fascinating as its written by an architect who uses the architecture of a house/home as the groundwork for the structure of this book.  Helpful for anyone who struggles with making joy a priority in their life.

The Way In: Journal Writing for Self-Discovery, by Rita Jacobs. For anyone who has ever wanted to keep a journal but felt intimidated by the prospect, or for anyone who has started a journal in the past, only to become stalled in the process, The Way In provides a wealth of inspirational techniques for getting started and staying with it. This beautiful hardcover book is filled with ideas for a number of different types of journals - from free-form to list-holding, gratitude to birding - plus a wide variety of stimulating, easy-to-follow topics and writing exercises to get you started. A keepsake slipcase holds The Way In and a companion blank journal, which features ruled pages and a ribbon marker. This special set holds all you need to open the door to creative self-expression. Great gift idea too!

Garden Spells, by Sarah Addison Allen. Absolutely enchanting novel about love, life's journeys, and inner voices.  This is one of my favorites of 2007, and one I will enjoy reading again and again. No matter who you are, you'll be able to relate to at least one of these very human, very believable characters.  And there's some magic/enchantment thrown in for good measure.

Ten Poems to Change Your Life, by Roger Housden.  Whenever I read one of Housden's books, I feel my soul simply soaring.  This one is no exception.  Includes poems by Kabir (The Time Before Death), Rumi (Zero Circle), Walt Whitman Song of Myself), Mary Oliver (The Journey), Derek Walcott (Love After Love), Pablo Neruda (Ode to My Socks),St. John of the Cross (The Dark Night), and more.  Even if you aren't ordinarily "into" poetry, this book will win you over.

Music:

Noel, by Josh Groban. Oh, if you like this artist, you will love his new holiday cd.  Just beautiful!

Movies:

The Bee Movie, featuring voices of Jerry Seinfeld, Renee Zellweger and Matthew Broderick.  This movie made me laugh from beginning to end. Very clever, fun, and with a great story line.  I know a lot more about bees now that I didn't know before. If any of you are still looking for some Animal Companions, you might want to check this out and see if you identify. In theatres now.

Websites:

Mythic Imagination-
This site's purpose is the encouragement of creative response to life, our own individual lives, and our lives as families, tribes, communities, nations and as a world. (Recommended by Kindred Spirit Barb in Minnesota).  I love their defining quotation on their home page: There's only one story in the world- your story. --Ray Bradbury

Isabella- This site is a great source for creative gift giving. I buy from them all the time and am always happy with the service and products, but most of all with their selection.

Go Make Art- Get ideas for using art as a tool for self-discovery, self-development and self-expression.

House of Earth and Light Studio- Gorgeous art by Sue Blondell.
