Books:

JournalRevolution: Rise Up and Create, by Linda Woods and Karen Dinino.  Full of many color photos, techniques andideas for creating an art journal that celebrates your own soul.  Even if you've never done journaling in colorbefore, you'll want to once you've read through this beautiful book!

Readings for Remembrance, Selected byEleanor Munro.  This is a beautifulcollection of readings for funerals and memorial services.  Poetry, quotes and short essays.  Actually, reading through it, I found greatcomfort and peace, even though I'm not currently grieving a loss.

Healing Throughthe Dark Emotions, Miriam Greenspan. Written by a therapist, this book is an invaluable guide to unlockingthe hidden gifts within our darker feelings, including grief, fear, anddespair.

A Woman's Journeyto God: Finding the Feminine Path, by Joan Borysenko.  Empowering story of her search for andembrace of her distinct path amid a sea of more male-based spiritual ideas, teachers and traditions.

Promise the Moon,by Elizabeth Joy Arnold.  A powerful, wise novel about how the losses of war (this current one) affect a close-knitfamily. Told from the points of view of young mother Natalie, and her 10 yearold daughter Anna, this book both riveted and held me. I literally couldn'tstop reading it.  All the characters areflawed and human, and Elizabeth Joy writes with compassion, wisdom and grace.

Movies:

Never Cry Wolf, featuring Charles Martin Smith, Brian Dennehy.  Set in the Arcticwilderness ofCanada.  Tyler, a biologist, arrives to study somewolves believed to be preying upon the caribou herds.  At an isolated campsite, he observes a whitewolf, his mate, and three cubs.  Tyler forms a genuinebond with these animals based on a deep respect for their individuality, loyalty to family, and intelligence.  Atone point in the film,Tyleralso has a mystical experience of oneness with nature that makes him realizethe importance of protecting wildlife.  ---from Spiritual Rx, Prescriptions forLiving a Meaningful Life, by Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat
