Quotation of the Week
Where you stumble, there your treasure lies.
--- Joseph Campbell Soul Friends The Voice of a Different Kindred Spirit Each Week Kimee
DohertyMalden, Massachusetts Hello my name is Kimee Doherty. I live in Malden, Massachusetts in the heart of Red Sox Nation. I've been practicing SoulCollage® for 2 years now. I was introduced to SoulCollage® when I went to Kirpalu for a workshop with SARK (Susan Arial Rainbow Kennedy). We all had some special alone time with her and she told me "Do SoulCollage®, it will change your life in ways you do not know yet". I had to listen to SARK. Well it took me a few months but I went to my first workshop and didn't get it at all. I was way to logical about it, trying to get it right. The first card I ever made (pictured below) is the green apple card. Trying to be logical about it, I selected images that were green, that would go together. I didn't understand the I am the one who exercise, I thought it doesn't talk, it's a card, these people are crazy :) I went home and forgot about it, until a few weeks later when I found the card again. This time when I looked at the card it would not shut up. I saw things in that card that I never saw before. I sat down and wrote in my journal all that my heart was telling me through this card. It was like these feelings were given a voice. It was life changing. I wrote 4 pages! They really do talk if you listen! And those crazy people are now dear friends.
The thing I like the most
about SoulCollage® is the magic of it all. It simply amazes me each
and
every time. When I give workshops, I love to just sit back and watch
the moment when the card speaks, or they see the card for the first
time and connect to it. When the card no longer becomes a piece of art
but a piece of themselves.
I don't have a lot of cards but the ones I do have are very powerful. I tend to make cards with just 2-3 simple images. Some cards are just one picture. I used to feel guilty about this, thinking it's not a collage, it's just one picture. I'm over that now :) I have two cards to share with you. ![]() Green Suit Unknown This was the first card I ever made. I call it "Green" because when we did the I am the one who exercise, my very patient partner tried so very hard to help me see the message in this card. She asked, what does it look like to you. My answer "Green". :) I am the one that is Green. I am the one who is juicy and full of life. I am the one who reminds you of your inner beauty. Beneath the skin lies the core of who you are. I am the one who is natural and free. I am the one who needs to shed her skin and let more people in .
This is an interesting card. It takes on multiple personalities when I do the
I am the one who exercise. It's clearly a card about having too much stuff, but I see the vibrant colors
and neat piles and I try to defend it too :)
I am the one who has too much stuff. I am the one who is always cleaning, piling stuff on top of each other, trying to make things fit. I am the one who fills my life with color. I am the one who can't find anything. I am the one who realizes this is very toxic. I'm the one who tries to be neat. I'm the one needs to purge. I am the one who needs to let go. I have several cards relating to having too much stuff and it has helped identify not only the problem but my feelings about it. It has been very insightful. You can find more of Kimee's cards here. Upcoming Tele-Classes and Presenters:
July 19 (Sunday, 7 pm Eastern) - SoulCollage® and the Art of Sacred Listening, with Laura Hegfield, SoulCollage® Facilitator in New Hampshire. Consider allowing silence to be the container that holds your SoulCollage® practice. I believe that silence can open us to a more intimate listening experience, ultimately allowing us to drink a more satisfying cup of the sweet wisdom our cards have to offer. During this tele-class, Laura will offer some practical tips for incorporating more silence into your life and your SoulCollage® practice (alone, with friends or as a facilitator in workshops). Laura is a SoulCollage® Facilitator, Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coach, Yoga and Jewish Spirituality Teacher, Artist, Blogger, Wife and Mom practicing the sacred art of "life" in Southern NH. Please visit her blog, Shine the Divine to get to know her better before the call. August, 2009 - Power Animals, with Michele Lessirard, shamanic teacher/practitioner and SoulCollage® Facilitator in Florida. Last evening, just before dusk, I (Michele) looked out our family room window to see two great horned owls dancing on the ground by our palm tree. Owls rarely come down out of the trees to such a vulnerable place. What does the Owl dance mean? How would you work with the Owl's message? There are two main types of helping allies that shamans consult and work with in their journeys: power animals, also known as guardian spirits, and teachers in human form. In this teleclass we'll explore SoulCollage® and the relationship of power animals beyond the body chakras. In building relationship with our helping allies we come to know our true essence; from this place of power we feel more connected and grounded, better able to move out into the world in service to our family and community. During the teleclass we'll explore Nature, power animals and the SoulCollage® process. Michele will talk about power loss, power animals and the soul retrieval process using your SoulCollage® cards. Date and time to be announced, please stay tuned. |
