Quotation of the Week

Creativity belongs to the artist in each of us.  To create means to relate.  The root meaning of the word ART is "to fit together" and we all do this every day. Not all of us are painters but we are all artists.  Each time we fit things together we are creating- whether it is to make a loaf of bread, a child, a day. --- CoritaKent

A NOTE ABOUT OUR KALEIDOSOUL
FALL RETREAT

If you are thinking of attending our September Retreat (click on image to the right for details), please email me as soon as possible.  I'm trying to decide if we should postpone it to the Spring, or if we should make a go of it this fall.  We need 15 people to make it a "go" and so far only 6 have signed up.

You can email me by sending a reply to this email, or by emailing me directly at: annemarie@kaleidosoul.com.  Thanks!

Upcoming Tele-Playshops

June
Round Table Discussion: SoulCollage Card Readings
Discussion Moderator: Anne Marie Bennett

We'll be talking about several different kinds of SoulCollage card readings, and there will be plenty of opportunity to share your own experiences if you want to.  If you haven't done a reading with your cards yet, that's okay too.... because we'll be doing a Reading live on this call!  I will do one to demonstrate, and then you can do one of your own.  You'll have the option to share your reading with the rest of us, but it's not required.  If you haven't done a Reading with your cards yet, or if you want some community support while you do one, this is the call for you.

Soul Nourishment
Books, movies, music, & websites to support your inner work as you dive deeper into your soul....

Books:

Natural Mandalas, by Lisa Tenzin-Dolma. Absolutely gorgeous book. Contains 30 mandalas found in nature (full color, glossy, large images), along with written ideas for meditations for each that will help you find peace and awareness in nature's beauty.

Sacred Threshold, by Paula D'Arcy. I read this little book of essays in one sitting because I simply could not put it down.  It's been on my bookshelf for months, and I picked it up today to simply scan through it to see if I should keep it or give it away. It is so full of rich and priceless treasure, and deep wisdom... I might buy some more copies to give away, but this one is mine!  The author writes with a deep faith, and grace-filled honesty.  Her stories are personal and oh-so-real.  One of her stories involves her work as therapist and spiritual friend to Morrie Schwartz, of Tuesdays with Morrie fame.

The Extraordinary Healing Power of Ordinary Things, by Larry Dossey, M.D.  Subtitled: Fourteen Natural Steps to Health and Happiness, this book is a powerful treasure-trove of fact and mystery, and full of pathways to healing that you might never have thought about.  A few of these 14 steps to full health are: optimism, tears, dirt, music, voices, and get this....nothing!  It's very readable, although very grounded in scientific fact, and will get you thinking about health and wholeness in a whole new light!

Music:

My Spirit Flies To You, by The Buddhist Monks.  14 tracks that are a unique, beautiful mixture of North American and Tibetan chants. Lovely background music for housework, homework, or SoulCollage card making!

Movies:

The Fountain, featuring Hugh Jackman, Rachel Weisz, and Ellen Burstyn. Now on DVD.  I watched this movie in immediate awe and amazement.  On one level, it is a profound love story that crosses many centuries.  On another level, it tells a story of death, of dying, of those who die and those who are left behind.  And on yet another level, it is a perfectly blended and stunning visual fable of Life and Love and why we are here.  And weaving all of this together are absolutely gorgeous, breathtaking visual scenes that I guarantee you will want to freeze-frame and turn into SoulCollage cards!  I only had time to watch this once before I had to return it to the DVD store, but I'm buying my own copy because this is one to watch again and again. I know I missed a lot the first time around!  One reviewer said, "Not many films can blow your mind and break your heart at the same time, but this one will."  Well said!  P.S. The soundtrack is beautiful too!

Websites:

CDBaby.com - the best site ever to buy CD's . Their customer service is awesome; their shipping prices are less than Amazon's; you can listen to samples of the music before you buy it; they're a big company with a great sense of humor and an excellent attitude toward their customers. All you have to do is buy there once and you'll see what I mean! Their New Age music collection is very broad, and perfect for background music while you're making those beautiful SoulCollage cards! It's music to inspire your soul.

Maura Holden ArtWorks- beautiful visionary art by Maura Holden.

Planet SARK- home of fantastical artist and author Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy (SARK)... I don't think there's a more fun, colorful website anywhere!  I especially love her newsletter and DreamCatchers.

Making Joy A Daily Practice- excellent ideas and article on the spiritual practice of joy, from one of my favorite websites, Spirituality & Practice.
