Quotation of the Week
Living a passionate and awakened life means looking at
the stars each night as if it were your first time and as if
it were your last time.
It means embracing your loved ones as if this were the only embrace you will ever be granted.
It means living each day with reverence and wonder as if
it were the only day you will be given to live.
---Barbara De Angelis, How Did I Get Here?
Books, movies, music, & websites to support your inner work as you dive deeper into your soul....
Books:
WhyBuffalo Dance: Animal and Wilderness Meditations Through the Seasons, by Susan Chernak McElroy. This book will unequivocally inform your work with the Council Suit and the Companions Suit of your SoulCollage deck. The short readings follow the natural cycle of the seasons and include topics such as: mystery, emptiness, resistance, reprieve, right timing (Winter); play and frolic, the trickster, new beginnings, the law of attraction (Spring); decay and healing, choice and discernment, unity, cleansing and purity (Summer); release, dreaming, leave-taking and migration, and completion (Autumn).
Changing Patterns: Discovering the Fabric of Your Creativity, by Daena Giardella and Wren Ross. If you could have only one book on the creative process on your shelf, it would be this one. But, wait! It's really TWO books in ONE! The first half of the book is called Exploring Your Creative Process, and I absolutely love the way it's written- immensely readable with lots of real stories and visual metaphors to get you really thinking, plus a wonderful chapter on ways to work with your Inner Critic. The second half of the book is called Knitting as a Metaphor for Life, and I have a feeling you will love this as well, even if you've never knit a stitch in your life!
Contentment:A Way to True Happiness, by Robert A. Johnson and Jerry M. Ruhl. This is a slim book, but it is packed with wisdom and plain simple truth. It will guide you slowly inward and towards a true understanding of lasting contentment.
Music:
Woman Wisdom, by Juliana. I can't even remember where I found this CD, but I love its angelic sounds and ethereal vocals. Features personal songs about spirit guides, guardian angels, healing, animals, and self-belief. Also includes favorite myths and legends about Mermaids, and the Celts. This link takes you to Amazon.com. You can purchase it new, or you can save lots of money and buy it used. I've gotten great deals this way on Amazon, without paying full price.
Websites:
GettingThru.org- I've been learning a lot about EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) lately and this site is a gem. There's all kinds of resources here on soul, spirituality, coaching, counseling, teaching, and emotions, as well as EFT. EFT is a very simple way to clear ourselves of old thought patterns and blockages (and in some cases, even pain) by tapping on a short series of meridian (acupuncture) points on the body with our fingers. It's helping me to clear food cravings when I'm not hungry, and to dissipate the outdated, false messages that I hear sometimes from some of my inner shadowy/darker voices.
World Center for EFT- Here's another great EFT site, from Gary Craig, who created it. You can download a fr*ee manual here too. EFT is easy to do, and I learned to do it from this manual and this site. I am using EFT hand-in-hand with my SoulCollage practice, and discovering even more about myself!
All Books 4 Less- There's a bazillion discounted books here on every subject under the sun. Check it out! This site is an inexpensive, excellent way to build your own library of soul-full resources. I use it almost as much, if not more, than I use Amazon.
Akiane's Art- Akiane is a 12 year old girl with an amazing artistic gift. Allow her paintings on this site to touch you in some way. Choose one and sit with it awhile; listen to what it has to say to you.
