Quotation of the Week
And now let us welcome the New Year
Full of things that have never been. --- Ranier Maria Rilke ![]() Inner Journeys with Anne Marie Bennett Integrating the Practice of SoulCollage Into Our Daily Lives Holding This Moment In My Hand I read somewhere recently that in French, the word for "now" is "maintenant," which literally means "held in the hand." And it gave me pause. It made me realize that I am holding this moment, now, right now, in my hand. For it is all that I have.As I type these words onto this white computer screen, I am holding a moment in my hand. As I close my eyes and hear the sounds of a house quieting down for the night... I am holding a moment in my hand. Every time I hear my granddaughter laugh... I hold a moment in my hand. Whenever I look to the sky, or cross a crowded street, or sneeze, I am holding a moment in my hand. One of my intentions for the New Year is to be more present to my own life as it is unfolding, moment by moment. It is my spiritual responsibility to savor all of these moments, one at a time, as they are given to me. Even on days when I would rather turn my back on them, I am going to try to remember that they are gifts from One who loves me more than I could ever love myself. I am going to try to savor each moment. Every moment. I am going to try to hold this moment in my hand. Maintenant. Now. The only moment that I have. Reflection Activities: What is your own personal intention for the New Year? Try to narrow it down to a short phrase or even one word. Create a SoulCollage card that expresses your intention for 2009. Keep it out on your desk or bedside table where you can see it often. Allow it to speak to you this week. Have a conversation with it. What are you learning about yourself?
Our Next Tele-Class Eckhart Tolle, SoulCollage®, and The Source with Fran Cherlow, SoulCollage Facilitator in California We'll take an inspired look at the transpersonal nature of
SoulCollage and the book A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle, focusing on how we embody this
understanding in our lives. Tolle says that consciousness (or the "I Am"
experience) is in the background of our lives. What tools can we develop
to build this awareness into our everyday lives and what relationship
does it have with SoulCollage? Please bring your own questions and
musing for this abundant discussion.Suggested handouts to read before the class. These include Quotations from the book A New Earth, reflection questions, and a chart that compares and contrasts concepts between SoulCollage and A New Earth. NOTE: It is NOT necessary to read the book, A New Earth, before attending this tele-class. Fran L. Cherlow, MA, LMFT, is a licensed Marriage, Family, and Child Therapist and a SoulCollage Facilitator in Long Beach, California. In this capacity, she has been facilitating groups and workshops since 2004. She co-facilitated a discussion group (on this same topic) with Seena Frost at the second annual SoulCollage Conference in California this year. Recently, the construction of her sacred SoulCollage space was completed and she will inaugurate it with a workshop on the Community Suit honoring a departed loved one or beloved animal.
