The Committee Suit-
Your Inner Voices
Since we each have so many inner voices, every day there are all kinds of “committee meetings” going on inside our heads.
The beauty of SoulCollage® is that it helps us to identify, embrace, and pay attention to these inner voices.
I have found that simply noticing a voice (especially a shadowy voice that doesn’t seem to like me) diminishes its power over me.
You don’t need to call this suit “Committee” if you don’t want to. Feel free to name this suit something different if you’d like.
Other SoulCollagers call this suit of inner voices:
- The Inner Family
- Inner Parts
- Inner Tribe
Ideas for Committee Members
This list is only a partial one.
You will identify many more inner voices as you continue the practice of inner listening, and as you continue to go through magazines and pull out images that call to you.
As you read the list below, take a separate piece of paper (or your journal) and make your own list.
You will find that you will identify with some of the inner voices listed here, and some you will pass right over. That’s perfectly okay.
You are the only one who truly can identify your own inner voices.
- The Critic
- The Peacemaker
- The Organizer
- The Caretaker

- The One Who Was Shamed

Honoring Each of Your Inner Voices
Take a look at the list you made of your own inner Committee. Some of the voices on your list are clearly positive. Some are more neutral. And some may seem negative and bothersome. This is all okay! They are each needing to be heard.
A few of them may seem to be dominant, the ones who are continually “running the show.” Others may be living on the fringes, unable to speak, silenced and hidden in the shadows. Remember that each part of you wants to be seen, heard, named and honored. Making a SoulCollage® card for each of them is a powerful way to do this.
Love Your Inner Family: Love YourSelf is a wonderful article about getting to know three of your inner parts: inner child, inner mother, and inner father.
Dancing Down the River of Life is one of the best essays I’ve read about our inner voices.
Your Inner Critic
A very loud and important part of everyone’s inner world is called the Inner Critic. Here are some articles and a guided meditation that will help you get to know yours a little better.
Believe it or not, your Inner Critic can be a valuable player in your team of inner voices! This card is to honor my own inner critic whom I call Ethel.
Inner Critic Guided Meditation– Explore a movie studio, where a film about your life is being created, only to find out that your Inner Critic has taken over as director. When you regain control of your movie, what can your inner critic gently teach you? This track is on the Magical Inner Journeys CD Volume 1.
